PUBLIC SAFETY SOLUTIONS THAT BIOMETRIC TECHNOLOGY HAS MADE POSSIBLE

Public safety solution in a smart city uses AI-powered Neo Face biometric technology for the identification of suspicious people in real time.

Incidents of theft, burglary, and chain-snatching in cities often go untraced owing to the inefficacy of public safety solutions. This leads to a surge in petty crimes. More dangerously, it has given rise to organized crime. NEC India has introduced a public safety solution that uses biometric technology to track the suspicious elements who are a threat to the city.

AI-powered face recognition technology is at the heart of this public safety solution. CCTV cameras installed at strategic locations for surveillance are equipped with Neo Face, a world-class Face Recognition Technology that enables the Police to identify any suspicious-looking person using the criminal database. 

The IT solution provider has collaborated with Delhi Police to increase its surveillance capability by using CCTVs equipped with NeoFace technology. CCTVs with the capability of video analytics have been installed in all strategic locations, including airports and railway stations. Managing the crowd has also become easier post-installation of the CCTV cameras as it helps in crowd behavior analysis.

In Kalyan-Dombivli, 801 cameras have been installed at 301 locations with 68 rotating type cameras. Because of this, the rate of crime detection has increased by 15%. The Police have solved crime cases like assault, murder, vehicle theft, burglary, kidnapping, etc.

Unusual behavior in major locations like airports and railway stations can also be detected with NeoFace since the functionality of video analytics can be added to it. Behavior Detection solutions use face recognition technology to enable the system to identify and analyze faces in real time. It helps in detecting specific behaviors and potential security threats accurately. 

NeoFace Reveal has additional capabilities that help police personnel enhance poor-quality latent face images, search against databases, and locate potential suspects. Since it is an excellent aid in forensic criminal investigation, it has been deployed by the Surat City Police. In an important step taken to ensure the safety of the city, the Police have set up Picture Intelligence Unit with the help of this technology.
